As a makeup artist, I always get requests from clients to make them look like their favourite celebrity. There is always the usual request for Jessica Alba’s eye’s, skin tone, Jolie’s lips and cat eye flick, Jennifer Aniston’s ‘girl next door’ look…but by FAR, the most requested makeup look (as of recent) is actually Katy Perry. Whether it is for their wedding or a special occasion…even to every day makeup, Katy Perry is by far the most popular when it comes down to it.
Here is a list of things people love from her:
- “I LOVE her Eyes! I want those EYES!!!”
- ” The colour of her lips are fabulous!”
- ” She’s got such flawless skin..can you do that too!!”
So here it is, a few photos I love and a few tips as to how you can achieve it!
EYES: Stick to nice gold colours, have a few shades as well, use the lightest at the inner corner of your eyes and the darkest to shade around the outer edges to give depth. Katy Perry LOVES golden eyeshadows so definitely stick with those!
LIPS: BRIGHT COLOURS!!! She loves pinks and reds, even her nude lipsticks still have hints of colours…orange undertones, pink undertones so keep your lips nice and bright!!!
CHEEKS: Keeps the apple’s of your cheeks a soft pink colour as it compliment the makeup really well!!!
ENjOY and GOOD LUCK!!!
I was at Meagan’s place the other day for a photoshoot and she showed me ‘before and after’ photos of this guy she follows on Twitter…there is no denying that every little thing that is advertised is touched up to look as perfect as they possibly can…however, in spite of saying this, I am still absolutely amazed at the level of difference when you compare the before and afters…so if you are reading this now, this is not a blog post to rant on about how imperfect those advertisements are and how we should learn to love ourselves…blah blah blah…you know how that story goes…this is just a little compilation of photo’s I came across and have put together for your amusement…ENJOY!
I was so excited when Meagan Harding buzzed me a few weeks back to come help turn her 1950′s shoot into reality~!!! I have never done a 1950′s look (Marylin Monroe inspired) and so I did quite a bit of research for this shoot, testing and trying the looks on myself and a few others in order to perfect the gorgeous red lips and the stunning black eyeliner flicks
We were lucky to have a beautiful authentic setting thanks to Meagan’s friend Lindy who still has an awesome 1950′s kitchen in perfect condition!
There is nothing more amazing than witnessing your ideas turn into reality, after much anticipation, the 1950′s pincurls and the stunning red lips revealed themselves beautifully behind the camera screen
Here is a few snap shots of behind the scenes and of our absolutely stunning model Aimee Bianca Luff
After my 1950′s shoot this morning…i took one look at my table and realized how damn messy I am when I work!
Peek at it!
I came across these photo’s while doing research for one of my shoots, I love the intensity around the eyes and the flawless skins…it always makes me wonder…is it airbrushed or photoshopped..?
Sometimes the most simplistic drawings are the most beautiful, these rough hand drawn water-colour makeup/ fashion drawings exemplifies just that…enjoy!
A few weeks back, I had a few hours free so I decided to browse some old school makeup books at a book store…I was fascinated by the how beautiful the compiled makeup photos were…here’s a simple picture of the use of different lashes to exaggerate the eyes :p simple and beautiful…
What makes an excellent photoshoot? Besides the obvious being the photographer; the model, stylist and makeup artist all play an integral role in producing excellent photos for a shoot!
I have been so lucky to have met Meagan Harding who is now my FAVOURITE stylist, Cheng Zhu for taking amazing photos and Jennifer Melandez who is so wonderful to work with!
I’ve only worked with her twice but she’s probably my favourite! Amazing to work with, down to earth and absolutely stunning, she could wear a potato sack and still look gorgeous!
Amazing work guys! I hope to work with you peeps again real soon!!!
As we finished with our lovely client for her wedding trial, we decided to have a little fun with some colours
